1997 Mustang Cobra convertible
"Coach" was built on 5/30/97 #2915 of 3088. It has a 4.6L (280Ci.) DOHC 4V V-8 that delivers up to 305 hp and 300 lb/ft. of torque with a redline of 6800rpm. It is Crystal white with black leather interior and a 5-speed manual overdrive transmission. With a curb weight of 3,531 lbs, it is capable of 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds and 1/4 mile in 13.99 seconds. The brakes are equally impressive, with 13" rotors on the front and 11" rotors on the back, it can go from 60-0mph in 127 ft. Of course, never being satisified is the American way, and I've made a couple of modifications to improve the car for autocrossing within the SCCA rules for street-prepared cars.
Mods include:
17x9" Cobra R rims
Kumho 275/40-17 tires for autocrossing
K&N Air filter for better air flow to the motor
Tokiko 5-way adjustable struts in front, Koni D/A shocks in the rear to help tune the suspension
Maximum MotorSports Caster/camber plates and Bob Maggio's "trick" alignment.
Indy linear springs from MRP Racing. They lower the car about 1.25", 700lb/in front, 350lb/in rear
Baer Racing braided stainless brake lines for the front - don't want any nasty surprises from heat-stressed rubber lines...(Some track-driven Mustangs have experienced failures - 1999-up has a new design for this reason)
Ford High Performance brake fluid to make sure that stopping power remains consistent.
Griggs Twin tube torque arm and panhard bar.
